Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Newton Cemetery is currently operating as follows. Check back for updates. Please note, there are no restrooms open to the public at this time, so plan accordingly.
MAIN OFFICE: Staff members are available to assist you Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm by phone at 617-332-0047 or email firstname.lastname@example.org, however the office remains closed to the public. Please contact us with your questions about scheduling a burial or cremation, the administration of an existing lot or niche, or to inquire about the sale of a new interment space.
BURIALS AND CREMATIONS: We will continue to schedule burials and cremations. Cremation witness services are suspended until further notice. The limit on gatherings of 10 people remains in place through Phase I of Massachusetts’ Reopening Plan. Funeral Directors and families should strictly limit attendance at services to 10, including clergy and funeral directors, as well as follow guidelines for minimizing exposure in social settings, including outdoors.
SALES: Our staff is available by appointment only to assist families with the purchase of burial space. Please call to schedule an appointment. When meeting in person, everyone must wear a mask and stay six feet apart.
CHAPEL & COLUMBARIUM: The columbarium is open to the public while the grounds are open, however the doors will be locked 1/2 an hour before the gates close. The chapel is closed until further notice.
GROUNDS: The grounds of Newton Cemetery & Arboretum are open to the public from 8:00am to 8:00pm, and provide a place of respite, solace, and peace at these uncertain times. All visitors are welcome, but please follow the posted Cemetery rules and adhere to guidelines for minimizing exposure to COVID-19, even outdoors.
