The Memory Quilt

The Memory Quilt Project is an ongoing series of nearly forty unique mixed-media works created during Kasey Kaufman’s time as Artist-in-Residence at the Newton Cemetery & Arboretum.

Each piece is a meditation on loss and remembrance, built from fragments – images of place, nature, objects, and absence – gathered and held together like memory itself. Some works are rooted in Kasey’s own experiences; many honor stories generously shared with her by others.

This collection continues to grow. It exists as a quiet space for remembering, for holding what remains, and for honoring lives through mark, material, and care. Kasey’s goal is to create 52 panels, 1 for each week of her residency.
